The grooming just finished up, so here is the good news and the not so good news. The good news is that we got 1-2" of fresh snow, which looks beautiful and makes it feel like it's a winter wonderland again, the not so good news is that it is a very wet, sticky snow. The Ginzu was so excited to see snow that it tried to hug it and keep it all to itself which meant dragging large amounts of balled up snow right off the trails in the spots that needed it.
Skate and classic was attempted on all of our open trails. The classic had mixed results because we still have a lot of thin area and we didn't get enough snow to really set new track everywhere. Most of the skate lanes turned out alright, although you will see spots (hopefully on the sides) where the overflow snow spilled out.
The best areas are going to be in the fields around the Swamp Creek Loop and past the trees down to the Stonewater Loop. If you catch it early enough, you might be able to ski over the areas that have been bare.
There is a coyote that has been hanging around the north end of the Swamp Creek Loop and it doesn't seem to be very afraid of skiers. Not that it has approached anyone, it just hasn't exactly run off either.
Our plan is to keep the trails open at least through this weekend and to offer discounted $15 day passes online (CLICK HERE to purchase) or in person at Plain Hardware.
Osprey Lodge Trailhead is our last remaining access point and use caution in the parking lot as it is icy and micro spikes are recommended.
