Groomer’s Report - Wednesday 3/1/23

Good morning skiers! WOW ! What a beautiful morning and some amazing grooming out there! Fresh skate and classic on the Meadow Loop Trails, Sprint Loop, and the BCT between Plain and Mt. Springs Lodge. Fresh skate on most other trails including Ditch Loop. Today's picture was from early this morning at Mt. Springs Lodge looking south towards Plain. It was 8 degrees when we started this morning! It is currently 26 degrees at 10 AM (feels good in the sun but still chilly in the shade). No new snow. Great skiing, skate or classic. Groomers choice this morning will be Sprint Loop or Swamp Creek. Both are in great shape.

Yesterday was a watershed day for the US Ski Team, with Jessie Diggins winning the US's FIRST individual GOLD at World Champs, in the 10 K freestyle (skate) race. We hope one day the PVNT will have it's first alum named to the US Ski Team. Derek "Buster" Richardson is getting close! After finishing his senior year with us last year, he trained a bit with us in the early summer before moving to Alaska where is now in college at Alaska Pacific University (APU). He is still a U20, so it's great to see him doing so well so far!

Trail passes are required and can be purchased online at www.skiplain.com or in person at Plain Hardware. Plain Hardware also offers XC ski and snowshoe rentals, as well as a full line retail shop with a great selection XC skis, boots, and poles.

Today's groomers were Caleb, Jason, and myself.

Have fun out there!
