Groomer’s Report - Tuesday, 1/2/24

Good morning skiers! I skated the entire Beaver Creek Trail yesterday and it was skiing fast and a ton of fun! About a 12 mile round trip. Conditions will be very similar today - firm and fast. We currently have 30 degrees at 9 AM and overcast. No new snow. The low was 30 and yesterday's high was 33. Fresh skate on all trails except the top of Chainsaw Ridge and it's exit out Cougar Run (low snow conditions there). Classic was left from yesterday.

I see there is a new Strava segment for Rowdy Coyote! Give it a shot! You can download a free version of Strava to your cell phone.

Hot Tub Hill and the Hitching Post areas are in rough shape. You should walk Hot Tub Hill or use Rowdy Coyote to the top of Hot Tub Hill to avoid the melt out. The top loop of Mill Hill also has some dirt in one area that can be skied around. Almost all trail intersections with other user groups are dirty and I'd suggest removing your skis for several of them. Overall, great coverage on 98% of the trails but consider using your rock skis.

Trail passes are required and can be purchased at Plain Hardware www.plainhardware.com or online at www.SkiPlain.com. The revenue generated from pass sales funds both the grooming of the trails and the Plain Valley Nordic Team, our local youth team serving 130 kids between the ages of 3 and 18! Please make sure your pass is showing or have your phone receipt ready to the trail hosts.

We have a few kids racing at U.S. Senior Nationals this week with the first races today at Soldier Hollow, Utah. More info here: https://usskiandsnowboard.org/events/supertour-2-us-national-championships-soldier-hollow

Grooming today by Jason and Caleb.

Have fun out there!
