Good morning skiers! I've been out skiing the trails over the last 4 days and the trail conditions have been really good in spite of our warm patch. Yesterday I skated at 3 PM and found it firm and fast, with the temps around 33 degrees after a fair patch of rain earlier in the day. So good skiing. My classics have been super fun as well (Thursday's ski). Surprisingly fast on my skin skis.
With the extended warm spell, the parking lots have been tough. Overnight I've freshly plowed both Beaver Creek Trailhead and Meadow Loops Trailhead. They should be in good shape. My groomer reported that Clear Creek looked good but it was a bit dark when he was there. Be aware that soft conditions can exist in during this warm spell.
On Sunday, we are hosting a youth race on Sprint Loop. Sprint Loop will be closed part of the day to the public. There will be impact to parking in Plain (noon race start), so consider your timing or using the other parking lots.
Trail passes are required and can be purchased online at www.skiplain.com or in person at Plain Hardware (www.plainhardware.com). Plain Hardware offers XC ski and snowshoe rentals as well as a full line of XC skis, boots, bindings, and poles. And the best coffee in Washington!
Snowshoe trails are open.
Have fun out there!
Rob D, Josiah, and Jason, today's groomers.
