Well, it looks like we might have a day without rain! Partly cloudy skies this morning and temps did drop down below freezing which will definitely help the trails and parking lots out.
Last night, the northern trail system (from Mountain Springs Lodge to Clear Creek Turnaround) got fresh skate with a ginzu and things turned out pretty well, so the skiing up there should be fast this morning. The classic was still holding up well in most spots.
From the Meadow Loop Parking Lot, the SnoCat was used this morning to set fresh skate on Meadow Loop, Sprint Loop and the BCT to Mountain Springs Lodge, with a ginzu being used to freshen up the skate on the Mill Hill Complex including Chainsaw Ridge and Cougar Run.
We have done a bit of work on the parking lots, so hopefully with the cooler temps last night, they will be a better, but still use caution especially since there might be ice.
All 3 trailheads are open and just a reminder that our northern most trailhead is at Osprey Lodge Trailhead at the 1000 Trails main entrance, which might be the best option if you have a low clearance vehicle. (No longer the Clear Creek Trailhead). As always, use caution in the parking lots as there could be ice (Micro Spikes recommended) and can be quite slushy as temps warm up (4wd recommended).
Disclaimer: Our Nordic Pulse map is a work in progress as we are still coordinating the GPS tracking to align with the actual trails, but all trails are currently open.
