It's lightly snowing with a temperature hovering right at freezing. The forecast is calling for 1-3" of snow today which must be a celebration for the kick off of the 5th annual Tour de Plain! Check out the details here.
The SnoCat made a pass on the BCT from Meadow Loop Trailhead to the race course which starts at the Beaver Creek Trailhead. We will be keeping it there to be able to groom that section of trail and give the best conditions possible for the duration of the race. So it groomed Stonewater Loop to Swamp Creek Loop for both skate and classic.
The rest of the trail system had just skate freshed up with Ginzu's including Meadow Loop, Sprint Loop, the Mill Hill Complex, be aware of thin and bare spots showing on Cougar Run and lower Chainsaw Ridge), the BCT north of Swamp Creek, Grizzly Mtn and Clear Creek Loop.
Enjoy the snow and just a heads up that there is a Wedding this afternoon at Mountain Springs Lodge which will close the BCT at there at 3:30pm - 5pm and encourage you to use the detour through Meadow Loop and over Rowdy Coyote to reconnect with the BCT.
All 3 trailheads are open and as always, use caution in the parking lots as there could be ice (Micro Spikes recommended) and can be quite slushy as temps warm up (4wd recommended).
Disclaimer: Our Nordic Pulse map is a work in progress as we are still coordinating the GPS tracking to align with the actual trails, but all trails are currently open.
